Problem with Fax Service in Windows Server 2003 SBS

I'm actually using the native FAX Service in Windows 2003 Server SBS, which is capable to forward the Fax to an email address.
Unfortunately the Faxes are in TIFF format, which is not very confortable.

For this reason I tried novaPDF Professional (both desktop and server), in order to automatically print the Fax with novapdf and send it to an email address.
If I print any document with novaPDF, it's perfectly forwarding it as a PDF enclosed to an email message, BUT when I set the "novaPDF printer" into the FAX SERVICE, the service itself stop working and there is none pdf created or emailed.
In this case, the only solution is to restart Windows to get the service working again!!!
The strange thing is that the Fax service is able to print correctly (or create a PDF) with any other application such as PDFcreator.
I had temporarly to uninstall novaPDF, even if it's the only PDF-program on the market which is easily and automatically forwarding a PDF document to an email address.

Thanks in advance for your support in this matter.

Hello,

We have tested the issue but are not getting any errors or any timeout while printing the faxes.

I have attached a screen with where are we printing and how.

Please let me know if that is where we are supposed to look and if you still have issues please try to completely uninstall novapdf by following this link http://www.novapdf.com/kb/how-do-i-unin ... df-43.html and install it again.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply!

May be I did not explain the problem correctly. I have no problem "manually" printing from any application, including the fax console.

The problem is when I set into the Fax Service to "automatically" print the fax with novaPDF after receiving it.

In this way, the fax service should automatically "print" the fax with novaPDF and novaPDF should send it to an external email container.

The reason I want to do so is that actually I'm forwarding the fax to an external email address in TIFF Format, but I would like to receive all of them in PDF which is perfectly readable in my mobile devices!

If you have a Windows 2003 SBS Server Ed. available, please try to set novaPDF as "printer" after the receiving of a fax. Set a destination folder for the PDF file and setup an email destination inside novaPDF. In my system, it does not work.

Regards!

Hello,

Can you explain to us what are the steps you are following to set this up?

Are you setting this directly on the Fax service in the Services area to use the novaPDF as the program to run when a fax is processed?

Unfortunately we do not have fax related background to be able to troubleshoot this without a guide from your end on hot to get there.

Hello!

Here is my procedure to se NovaPDF as default printer for Fax Service:

Image

In NovaPDF print setting, I turned on the "email" box and set my SMTP and email address parameters.
I would like to point out that the email is sent correctly when I print manually any document in the computer.

Any ideas?

P.S.: When the Fax Service stop working, after the receipt of any fax (with novapdf as printer) and I try to restart windows, I always get the message that the service "mmc.exe" is not responding.

Hello,

Everything we tried from here has been proven successful so far.

Unfortunately however we cannot reproduce your issue case exactly because we cannot use the FAX software and drivers in the screenshots as it is not available to us so at this point there isn't much else we can do to figure out what could be happening there.

The mmc error you are getting is related to the Microsoft Management Console system and can have a lot of reasons for hanging.

Thank you.

I've tried to set an alternative to novaPDF as printer with no success. The only PDF application which seems to print (create a PDF) from within the fax service is PDFcreator and, of course, a normal printer...
This is a very strange issue because I have no problem to print "manually" any Fax from the Fax Console with novaPDF....

Once the PDF has been created, novaPDF is correctly forwarding it (as an enclosure) as an email message...

I will try to investigate on this matter and let you know if I come up with something...

Best regards
