Large TMP files in User Profile

Post by lee-bowman »

Hello

We use the Standard Server Version of NovaPDF for our Citrix users and have good success with it. However we do experience issues with very large .tmp files being created in the User Profile\Application Data\Softland\NovaPDF directory. In our environment we use Roaming Profiles and directories that are approx 200mb in size is not desirable.

What settings could be recommended to prevent the build-up of large temporary files?

Currently a Batch file removes the .tmp files and reduce the profile size.

Many Thanks

LeeB

Hello,

The TMP files are being created only when the job is processed so when the PDF is created the files should be removed automatically. Please follow up on a print and let us know if the TMP files are being removed in your case and if they are not, let us know about it so we can check.

Unfortunately there isn't a novaPDF setting not to create the TMP files as they are needed for printing.

Thank you.

Hello,

Unfortunately the TMP files arent being deleted after the job has finished created.

As a test we printed some PDFs and some large (200mb) tmp files appeared but did not remove.

Our profiles are roaming so at user logoff the Application Data folder copies those large files back to the Profile Share

Any advice greatly appreciated

Hello,

Please export the profile you are using and send it to our support team at [email protected] along with the exact novaPDF version and build installed on the machine so we can troubleshoot this as well and find the cause for the issues.

Thank you.

The details of the profile that our users have in their Application Data\Softland\NovaPDF directory is shown below. I could not use the 'Upload Attachment' tool as it said that all my extensions (.txt, .doc) were not allowed.

Hello again,

I have an update on this issue and unfortunately there still seems to be something that is creating the large TMP files and not removing them.

The NovaPDF Version we have updated to is 7.4.369.

Strangely some of the TMP files have a Modified date from a few months back when a mass delete of all TMP files took place but a Creation date of a past couple of weeks (since the update)?

If there are any files/settings files that we could send for investigation that would be most appreciated

Something that we have noticed in these files. Even when a brand new PDF is created from a brand new document with Timestamps (Created and Modified) for the current date and time, the TMP file has the correct Created timestamp but the modified timestamp is approx 10 months is the past.

Is this just happening for us?

Hi,
We didn't receive any similar reports until now, and we'll need to exchange some files. So please email [email protected] to be able to troubleshoot this (for starter we would need the exported profile sent as an attachment in the email, as well as details about your environment).

Thank you.
